Made in one of our award-winning workshops, this Holstein violin is inspired by the original Guarneri 'Del Gesu' 'Il Cannone' violin made in 1743. This instrument is bench made, which means that it was made individually by one of our master luthiers from start to finish.
Known as "Il Cannone" (the Canon) for the powerful and sonorous quality of its tone, it was the favorite instrument of Nicolò Paganini. Crafted by the renowned Cremonese violin maker Giuseppe Guarneri (known as del Gesù), this instrument is considered one of his masterpieces. The violin has distinct features that set it apart from modern instruments, including a slightly shorter and thicker sound box, and a markedly curved neck. Its tone is distinctly bright, yet full.

Pierre and Michael were most helpful in getting this 1/2 violin for me. It took a few months but was well worth the wait. Of all of my violins this one is by far my favorite to play, including a Holstein bench made Strad, a Ming Jiang Zhu and a Scott Cao. All are fine instruments and I would have been thrilled with any of them, but the sound of this little violin gives no clue that is is a fractional violin. Thanks much Fiddlershop.
You people especially michael have allot if patience. That goes along way to build customer realtions. Happy with everything. Playing fiddle in and it's going through some great changes!
