Our incredibly talented team is here to help answer any questions you have, and make sure your instrument arrives safely.
This is such a sweet sounding instrument. Very comfortable to play it feels very natural and is really beautiful to look at. I cant belive that the cost was low as it was I would have expected this viola to cost at least twice what it did. It was set up and ready to play right out of the case, the rosin is of good quality, the bow has a great sound the case is sturdy and well protects the instrument and its goodies, the only problem I have with the case is I have to disassemble the shoulder rest for it to fit in the compartment but that's no big deal. Having a latch, zippers and a flap with buttons to ensure the case will not come open and to aid in protecting the instrument. It's just a really great deal at this price I wouldn't even think of renting one just because even if you bought it and decided it wasn't for you I cant imagine not being able resell it for what you have in it but I intend to keep and play it for long time.
Viola has arrived today. Very well packaged, and survived the journey all the way up the East Coast without problem.Everything looks fine. For a total beginner, this looks like an excellent choice. I've not played it yet don't know how), but I'm sure it will be fine.If you ever need ANYTHING related to string instruments, get it from Fiddlerman. Tell your friends. Tell your enemies. Tell EVERYONE!
Although I was nervous of ordering a viola online (due to being a beginner with a violinist background and my concern for shipping damage), I received a wonderful instrument that surpassed my expectations. Within 8-10 hours in placing my order, I got a email from the Fiddlershop stating that the 16'' viola intended for me had a small imperfection in its varnish (about a 1/8'' by 1/16'' chip, its hardly noticeable) - pictures were included and I was assured that the damage had no effect on the sound. The email stated that I would be given a discount for the damage, if I would like to continue the order. Within a half hour of my return email saying I'd take it, the viola was shipped. Living in Missouri, the viola took four days to arrive. The box had thick paper padding and included other smaller products I ordered (such as the Don't Fret finger marker and viola wall mount). The viola and bow were secured within the included case and the bridge of the viola was supported with a cardboard structure. The viola was in tune. Everything listed to come with the viola was received and a slip of paper including the name of the luthier who checked over my viola was given. Overall, every item provided was secured and nothing was harmed from shipment. I am a beginner, but the viola sounds absolutely beautiful - I love it! All the strings have been easy to tune and often need a slight adjustment from day to day. The case seems protective. There are two compartments that have lids under constant tension from a inner elastic band so that the lid remains closed. I can place the rosin and assembled shoulder rest in the compartments without difficulties. A outer zippered compartment can hold sheet music. The hygrometer does appear to work. The case also includes a simple lock with two included keys. Overall, I love this viola and hope to gain many years of enjoyment from it. I would highly recommend the Fiddlershop. I will be a returning customer.
I was so excited to get my viola. It was my first brand new one. It came completely set up and tuned. Just needed a little fine tuning due to cold weather. Viola is beautiful in looks and sound. I recommend this company highly! Thank you!
the service was pretty good at first. They mention their concern for slight imperfection on the varnish and they gave me a discount. The package arrived in a timely manner. The viola was slightly heavy. The biggest concern was the peg box was too narrow and the angle of the a stream coming out of the peg box was great. It was bent against the peg box I had work done on it to prevent damage. I spoke to customer service and they say they would reimburse me but I forgot the receipt so I would get it to them at a later time. I found a cheaper better quality viola and decided to return the fiddlerman viola. This different customer service representative was a lot less understanding and refused to honor a previous arrangement since I was returning it. She then cited that they check every instrument before they're sent which was not the case from a structural standpoint only aesthetic. They did pay for return shipping. I didn't except to have to get a luthier to work on my new, "inspected", instrument. Bow was great as well as the case. Didn't care for the shoulder rest.
We are so sorry for all your troubles. We have sent you a full refund and also paid for the return shipping. We wish you all the best with your new viola.
