Found my favorite strings
I really dig these strings. My viola, a Ming 905 from Fiddlershop (which itself sounds and plays way better than its price would suggest) sounded great with the Visions it shipped with orginally. That said, once I got some time in on my viola, I decided my playing style and personal taste wanted something just a tiny bit warmer and a tiny bit more focused that also responded well without being shrill or metallic, which led me to try out a Vision C. I loved it, so I bought the whole set, and the strings sound great across the board. Sometimes the A that comes with a set is kind of meh, but the Vision Solo A works well with the rest of the set. I do prefer, on my viola and with my playing, a Larsen A, but you wouldn't go wrong to stick with the Vision Solo A and to be honest, I always buy my Visions Solos in a set because having the A as a backup is a solid plan. I liked it better than the Jarger A, which always used to be my go-to (and is of course a fine string, as well). Basically, I love these strings, found them to be more resonant, crisper and warmer (if all three at once are possible) than the regular Visions, and for sure prefer them to Dominants. That said, I like Thomastik strings more than any other brand as a general rule (for my violin as well) so your mileage may vary. If you're on the fence about trying these, I say do it! And for sure buy them here from Fiddlershop, of course, because they're the best in terms of quality, selection and customer service. Super humans all around!
