Great Beginner Violin

Overall I think this is a great first violin set. It come with essentially everything you will need to get started, although I personally didn't care for the shoulder rest included, but again, it's my preference. The violin is beautiful and plays well.

tower strings violin

We love Fiddlershop and have bought 3 violins from here. I bought the tower strings just for practice and lessons at home. The violin is fine for that purpose. The bow was not very good and thankfully we have an extra we can use. It serves the purpose intended, but is not something I would use to play in a higher level recital. We love the other violins we have for that purpose. My aunt told us about Pierre and his family and we are so glad. We are from Ohio and don't have options for quality violins here. If you need a quality violin they can truly help no matter what level playing ability.

Nice sounding and pretty.

I’ve finally got my new violin. I’m a beginner adult and I’m learning right now. It’s a nice violin, the black outfit is really nice and it’s lighter than my rental one which is a Menzel Chinese made. The bow is lighter too. The only thing is my e peg keeps on slipping. I’m a beginner at tuning so it might be the way on how I’m turning it if you have any advices, I appreciate it!

Hi Pauline! Thanks for your kind words! And yes, tuning can be a pain sometimes! The highest tension is on the E-string peg, therefor you need to push it in harder. I'm including a link to a great video regarding slipping pegs: If this isn't enough, please contact us again.

If "you get what you pay for," I feel like I cheated a little. Great little starter instrument that perhaps doesn't have QUITE as nice a sound as my $500 viola. Beautiful, too. I wasn't expecting tiny, subtle sparkles (not glitter, exactly, just points of light) in the black, but that makes perfect sense for the "Midnight". It looks like a starry sky. It was even very nearly in tune when it arrived. I've been playing with it for a week, no complaints at all.
