Known for their intense warm and dark tone, Thomastik-Infeld Superflexible violin strings are made of a steel rope core and offer power and durability while facilitating left-hand playing.

Known to reduce stiffness through improved elasticity, these strings feature a more flexible feel under the fingers.  Superflexible strings are an excellent choice for the violinist looking to warm up a bright instrument, or bring a more rounded tone to an instrument that sounds a little edgy.

Thomastik Superflexible strings are comparable to Thomastik Spirocore in warmth, with greater sweetness of sound.

Ropecore has great volume, balance and tone for country and bluegrass music.

After Covid started subsiding I returned to one of the music venues where I'd played before. They have a set of microphones for singers but instruments are not amplified. So I decided to change the strings on one of my violins to something more long lasting, stable and with a simpler, more pointed tone, specifically for that playing situation. Previously I'd used synthetic strings on this violin, since its maker had optimized it for synthetics and they generally have more complex and beautiful tones than steel. I'd previously strung it with Obligato strings which were beautiful as long as I played chamber music or practiced alone. However to harmonize a violin with guitars, banjos, steel guitars, bass and mandolin one tends to gravitate toward a fast responding robust string without too much complexity nor darkness of tone. These strings fill this need very well. They are not overly bright, have a surprisingly sweet quality and a strong tonal center, are not dark in tone. There is a slightly nasal quality to their sound, which is actually similar to what I've heard intentionally created in good violins of the Strad pattern, and which people seem to like. But the stability, volume and balance markedly outweigh any complaint of negative characteristics. Such tonal objections would be entirely drowned out by the other instruments on stage and the ear plugs one has to wear if they sit near a banjoist. The good balance of their tones appears to negate my usual worries about A strings, and I like the E string as well. They appear to be long lasting, an added bonus.

    Beautiful Tone!

I have an old fiddle that was passed to me from my grandfather. I don't REALLY play, but I do play other instruments and do a lot of recording in my personal studio. My fiddle sounded brittle to me. So, I put a set of Superflexible strings on it and, WOW!!! It's a huge difference. The instrument has a sweet tone, now. I recommend these, without hesitation. Especially if your instrument sounds very tinny and brittle. These will calm it down and smooth it out.
