This is the second violin - STV750Е, which I recently bought from the FiddlerShop, and has been made by the workshop of Scott Cao, as an exact copy of "Il Cannone", produced in 1743 by great Guiseppe Guarneri del Gesu. The violin is made completely of European materials, and it has a great mellow, at the same time powerful sound, which distributes equally on all 4 strings. Special thanks, and endless appreciation to the FiddlerShop careful, knowledgeable, and extremely friendly personnel. The packing and shipment of the violin was seamless and prompt. The violin sounded very attractive right out of the shipping box. It did not need any adjustments, it was even holding the proper tune while being shipped. I am extremely happy, and enjoying this wonderful instrument a lot. It is a pleasure playing on it daily, and loving it more and more... Emmanuel Berkovitch, professional violin player.
Fantastic violin and world class customer service
I’ve been using my beginner violin for the past 16 years. It took me about 3 months to decide which violin to upgrade to, and when I received it, a few tears were shed. Even though it’s brand new, it has an old look and feel to it, as if it’s a mature piece. The sound is warm and projects well, and there’s a very noticeable difference in tone and playability compared to my beginner instrument. I couldn’t be happier to have this beautiful violin to continue my musical journey. I worked with Alex, and he answered all my questions and went above and beyond to help me choose my violin. Overall, the Fiddlershop and it’s staff are 5 stars+! Amazing people who care about the instruments they make, repair, and sell. I honestly couldn’t be happier.
Firstly, I've been playing for about 22 years now (just for fun), and am a 4th generation fiddler. I've both read and heard others speak so highly of Scott Cao violins, so I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a Lord Wilton model, and I truly couldn't be happier. The violin is not only very well crafted and aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but it has a big, clear voice that fills the whole house, and seems like it'll only get better with time. I do play some classical pieces (Bach, Sarasate, etc), but I get together with friends and family nearly every weekend in the summer/fall, and primarily play a more country-based fiddle style along with other musicians in our family, typically around a bonfire on the lake here in Michigan. I have zero doubt that this violin can hang with any other instruments in the band, and cut through any noises from all the kids running around! My assessment: This violin has great playability, and the sound is BIG, folks. The setup is great, and the tonewoods are of superb quality (especially for this price-point). I can't wait to play it for the family during our weekend bbq's at the cabin, and I'm anxious to hear how it opens up with some age! Scott Cao's shop certainly makes a fine instrument, and the woman I spoke to briefly over the phone at Fiddlershop was extremely helpful, going out of her way to check the warehouse and see what models were in-stock the day I called in. A+ to the fiddle, and A+ to the superb setup and customer service at Fiddlershop! If you're on the fence about trying one of these affordable instruments, take the leap. They're worth every penny.
We bought and tested a few different violins in this price range, and the Kreisler replica Scott Cao 750 blew them away! I called Fiddlershop and spoke with a very helpful associate...it definitely helped to speak with someone very knowledgeable, as this violin is for my daughter, and I am not a violinst. We also bought a Braided Carbon Fiber bow from elsewhere, which made this violin sound even better!! Great purchase! Thank you, Fiddlershop!
