This pre-owned Holstein Workshop Cannone is from 2022 and is still in great condition.

Holstein Workshop violins are handcrafted by one experienced luthier in our select VSA award-winning workshop. The quality of workmanship goes far beyond anything else we’ve seen in this price range. The tops are made of fine quality Italian spruce, and the back and ribs from Bosnian maple (100+ year old wood, aged and dried a minimum of 10 years). Our Holstein Workshop violins are made in various replicas and copies of violins made by the old masters, such as Stradivari, Guarneri del Gesù, Amati, and Maggini. The quality and dimensions of the wood, as well as the varnish, are copied from the originals to achieve the same tonal qualities.

Known as "Il Cannone" (the Canon) for the powerful and sonorous quality of its tone, it was the favorite instrument of Nicolò Paganini. Crafted by the renowned Cremonese violin maker Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù, this instrument is considered one of his masterpieces. The violin has distinct features that set it apart from modern instruments, including a slightly shorter and thicker sound box, and a markedly curved neck. Its tone is distinctly bright, yet full. It's an excellent choice for all playing styles.

The Setup

Every Holstein violin is setup and adjusted in our Florida workshop. The hand-carved bridge and soundpost are skillfully crafted to match each individual instrument, then we install quality fittings and strings. Every instrument is tested and adjusted to perfection.
