The mf | core hybrid viola (formerly known as 'Design Line') pairs mezzo-forte’s fully finished carbon fiber viola with an integrated Cordasonus pickup system, factory-installed during manufacturing in Werther, Germany.

Formed by vacuum infusion, the carbon fiber body undergoes two full cycles of hand-sanding and lacquering. Immune to temperature, humidity, and seasonal shifts, the instrument maintains its exact setup and physical dimensions, no matter the venue.

Developed in-house by mezzo-forte, the passive, battery-free Cordasonus system uses a specialized German ceramic crystal. Mounted directly in the bridge, the sensor measures string pressure at the vibration source, delivering an ultra-wide 10 Hz–80 kHz range with high feedback resistance on loud stages.

Players can manually rotate the bridge sensor in 45-degree increments to adjust the output from direct and punchy to broad and open, all without batteries or active preamps. When unplugged, the instrument retains the exact acoustic depth and warmth of the standard mf | core viola.

Available in 15-inch and 16.5-inch.
