About the maker
Martin Sheridan began his tutelage in violin making from Edward Stuekerjuergen in 1975, and later studied in Europe in the early '90s. He came to violin making from a background as a professional bassist. Sheridan has operated violin shops in Raleigh, NC and Chicago, Illinois where he did work for members of the North Carolina and Raleigh Symphonies, and in Chicago for musicians of the Chicago Symphony and the Chicago Opera. One of few makers who has made violins, violas, cellos, and double basses, he has instruments in major symphonies and countries around the world. A partial list would see instruments in the Chicago, North Carolina, Indianapolis, Alabama, Raleigh, and Oklahoma City symphonies. Also, Hamburg, Germany, Spain, Mexico, and Taiwan. He continues his work in a small workshop in Denver, Colorado.
