This particular violin left our shop in 2020 and has now made its way back. The violin is in mint condition, apart from a minor varnish mark on the left lower bout edge. The violin is professionally cleaned, adjusted, and tested to guarantee that it looks and sounds its best.

About the violin

Another masterpiece by one of our favorite Italian makers, Marco Cargnelutti. This very fine violin is a masterpiece from scroll to end button. It is made with an extraordinary attention to detail, and based on Stradivari's 'Il Toscano' 1690 pattern.

The violin is finished with beautiful Cocobolo wood fittings, and is set up with Evah Pirazzi Gold strings.

The sound is simply extraordinary: Deep and clear, with a dazzling brilliance. Beautifully balanced across all strings, and incredibly adaptive to the player's intention.

About the maker Marco Cargnelutti

Born in 1983 in Gemona Del Friuli (UD), a small town about 100km north-east of Venice, his interest in violin making began after visiting a workshop in his region. Marco attended the A. Stradivari International Violin Making School in Cremona under the guidance of several Masters (Angelo Sperzaga, Wanna Zambelli, Massimo Negroni, Luca Bellini and Daniele Scolari). There he learned the Cremonese traditional construction of bowed string instruments.

He graduated in 2012, and soon after took apprenticeships in two workshops in Cremona with Giorgio Scolari and Luca Bellini. At the same time he had the opportunity to learn from other Cremonese violin makers, such as Davide Sora, continuing advanced acoustic and aesthetic research in his hometown.

For his instruments he uses only carefully chosen seasoned wood, paying particular attention to its acoustical properties.

At the beginning of 2015 he opens his workshop in Gemona del Friuli, where he builds violins, violas and cellos mainly based on Stradivarius models, and paying particular attention to great Masters of the last century, such as G. Ornati and F. Garimberti.

Since 2015 he has been a  member of the Associazione Liutaria Italiana - Liutai Professionisti (A.L.I.)
