I have been playing classical violin for almost 20 years, and I believe that the JonPaul Matrix is excellent for the price. Its burgundy braided carbon fiber construction makes it not only aesthetically pleasing, but extremely resilient - perfect for extensive use in the unstable climate of the Northeast! I am also having an easier time executing martele and spicatto strokes with the JonPaul Matrix, compared to the pernambuco bow I was using before. Its ease of handling, combined with its price, makes it an appropriate and affordable option for all violinists, beginner to advanced. My only complaints are that it does not have a metal tip (which would have made it invincible) and that the sound produced is not quite as warm as the sound I get from wooden bows. If you are looking for a nigh-indestructible bow from a renowned maker that handles like a far more expensive wooden bow, consider the JonPaul Matrix.
