This tailpiece design allows for a slightly longer string length, meant to enhance resonation and sound production in your violin! The improvement may be slight, but for a fine violinist, that can go a long way. Dense woods are often ideal for areas that are constantly in use (but do not produce as much sound). Keep in mind that the density is not the only thing to factor in, as the quality and make will be the biggest factor.
We compared this tailpiece against the ZMT tailpiece and found that there was barely a difference, maybe due to the fact that you had to buy an extended G-string in order to use it... With this tailpiece you can use your current violin string set!

* Brazilian Pernambuco is an expensive wood due to its rarity as well as the extended drying time required. It only grows in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil and can only be harvested from trees that are 50-100 years old. Due to its high density, it works very well as a violin bow or as a fittings set.
Pernambuco harp tailpiece, love it!
My Violin has always had wonderful projecting sound in my upper strings. I was hoping to get more volume in my lower strings and this tailpiece did that. It also made my low strings much more responsive and easier to play. My higher strings kept there wonderful sound. I tried the lighter Boxwood tailpiece and I wasn’t as happy with that, I lost some of my sound projection. I also used Wittner Geared pegs and no tuners on the tail piece. I tried a titanium tuner on my tailpiece e string but it made it a little harsh so I removed it. -Steve
I didn’t like the looks but I wanted more volume out of my lower note.
Thought this tailpiece looked funky but I wanted to see if I’d get more volume in my lower notes. Well it did plus it didn’t change the the wonderful sparkling sound of my high strings. It also made my low strings so much more responsive. I also have Wittner geared tuners with no tuners on the tailpiece. I Love the the sound and responsiveness. Now I’m totally fine with the looks…
