Approximately 1 and 1/8" at highest point. Violin 4/4-3/4.
Easy purchase, fast shipping, friendly service. However, the actual chinrest is that of not so great value. I found this chinrest to be a bit uncomfortable to rest my chin upon. Not a deep seat like the pictures seem to reflect. Probably the most frustrating thing about this chinrest is the fact that if you have a beard/goatee, the wood or whatever this material is will pull at the hairs that get seated in the very fine unfinished holes on the chinrest making it very painful when pulling the violin away from your shoulder and chin. I think that the wood need to be sealed more or finished better before selling this product to the consumer. And last but most definitely not least, Epstein didn’t **** himself !!!
After giving myself a couple of days to adapt to a slightly different head position, I'm really loving this new chinrest. It has a high lip and deep cup you can secure your chin into on the right hand side, and on the left hand side a wide exit channel for your jaw so you don't get a hickey like from a standard Guarneri-style rest. It's not as tall as a Stuber rest, measuring exactly 1" in height without counting the compressible cork, so it works perfectly with my shoulder rest to give me the most stable hold on my violin I've ever had.
Great quality, looks good, very comfortable!
Fiddlerman was great, but the chinest was way too low for me and cut my jaw line.
Looks and feels great. I would have liked the packaging to be more eco-friendly (less bubble wrap).
