The Fiddlershop Family
Why is Fiddlershop growing so fast and blowing away its competitors?
Fiddlerman himself tests and curates the violins and works directly with the maker to produce only the best. With over 40 years as a professional violinist of orchestras around the world, he knows what he's doing. We buy our violins directly from the maker - a rare business practice that lowers our cost so we can pass the savings on to you! Each Fiddlerman violin is set up in our workshop.
I'm really pleased with the Artist violin. Compared to my old Stentor it's a bit brighter but at the same time richer and more complex sounding. It's nice and light, weighing in at around 480g (which is a good sign apparently). Look-wise, I'm generally not a fan of artificial antiquing, especially when it's overdone. However, the antiquing on the Artist is limited to a bit of faded colouring at the corner areas, so I'm OK with that. The flames on the back are really nice as well. The setup seems to be decent, with a nicely fitted bridge and usable pegs. The bow is OK but slightly more top-heavy and of lower quality than my Codabow NX, so I continue to use the latter. At this price point, it's difficult to be critical as the performance seems to exceed the cost. If I was to be picky however, I have found the varnish chips more easily than my old violin. Perhaps this is just a feature of spirit varnish in general. The varnishing was a little rough to the touch around the edges. I sanded them down a little with some fine micromesh which has improved the feel of the instrument significantly. And lastly, it would have been nice to have a genuine Wittner tailpiece instead of a copy. But I guess you could request this if you want it. I expect this violin to last me for a couple of years at least. After that, I would definitely be tempted to shop here again for an upgrade. I'll ask for one of those cool videos comparing different models. :)
I bought this violin 1 year ago (almost). While I needed more info regarding what type of violin I wanted, Fiddlerman was kind enough to help me with my request. What I like about this violin is that first of all I requested a violin that had a deeper sound. Previously I had 5 other violins when I used to learn in music school, but they didn't compare to this one. I got exactly what I wanted: a good violin, which has a deep enough sound. The sound is not sharp, that it bothers you. And I totally love it. Also the strings are of high quality, they sound good when you put the bow to them and the resonance is awesome. I highly recommend this violin if you're on a budget or you think you need something with a deeper sound :D
Honestly I wasn't sure what to expect when I first opened up the box. Something comparable to my old school instrument, but a bit better since it hadn't been through kids beating up up perhaps? Or something that was, while good, not as great as the reviews made it seem. Either way expectations were blown away, because the Artist is a *very* nice instrument for the price. Is it going to be comparable to a $2000 violin? No, but then again it's less than a third of that price for something that is *much* better than said price difference would suggest. All in all I was/am pleased with the tone, weight, etc...of the whole violin. In fact I was so pleased with the Artist that, upon considering it further I decided to upgrade to the Soloist. Which Fiddlershop was very helpful with throughout the entire process in spite of my many questions. If you're on a budget and can't afford the Master or Soloist, then I wholeheartedly recommend the Artist.
I played the violin for about 3 years when I was young. 48 years later, I decided to try it again. After researching violins and watching many reviews, I decided on the Fiddlerman Artist Violin Outfit. I live in Alabama so it was shipped to me. The packaging was secure and it was evident great care had been taken to make sure it arrived without damage. The violin is absolutely beautiful and it sounds beautiful as well. The only issue I had was that the bow was not shipped with the violin. I called minutes after opening the box to let them know. As I found out later, I ordered my violin outfit while the shop was in the middle of a move from one location to another. I received my bow a few days after my violin. Of course I was disappointed to have to wait a few extra days, but I worked in retail long enough to know that things like this happen. What is important to me is that the staff was courteous and took care of the issue in a timely manner. I would highly recommend the Fiddlerman Shop and I highly recommend the Artist Violin Outfit. I am now in my 4th week of re-learning the violin. Funny how even after 48 years, my fingers knew right where to go!
I ordered an Artist Violin Outfit for my daughter about three months ago. Before the purchase, I asked a few questions through the Fiddlershop website and got response and answers quickly. After receiving the violin, my daughter immediately tried to play with it. She said this was the easiest violin to play with (compared with her previous rentals). We all really like how her new violin sounds. When she brought the violin to school, she got a few compliments from her music classmates for her beautiful looking and sounded new violin! Thank you, Fiddlershop, for providing such a high quality violin at an affordable price! What's more amazing is the level of custom service Fiddlershop provides. A few days ago, my daughter dropped her violin accidentally. One of the pegs was broken. But the violin still plays perfectly. Didn't know much about violin at all, I emailed Fiddlershop asking whether they could send me a link to purchase a new peg that would fit in the violin. To my surprise, Clare from Fiddlership emailed back and said she would send a replacement peg to me. I asked to pay cost and shipping but was refused. :) I am really impressed with the way Fiddlershop goes above and beyond to help customers! Thank you!!
