One of our favorite books for getting started with the cello. Essential Elements for Strings offers beginning students sound pedagogy and engaging music, all carefully paced to successfully start young players on their musical journey. EE features both familiar songs and specially designed exercises, created and arranged for the classroom in a unison-learning environment, as well as instrument-specific exercises to focus each student on the unique characteristics of their own instrument. EE provides both teachers and students with a wealth of materials to develop total musicianship, even at the beginning stages

As someone that has never touched a cello before and is teaching themselves(can’t afford a proper teacher) this made it very easy. It’s starts you out from a very easy place and within two weeks I jamming out to twinkle twinkle little star. Ready soon to order the next three books just because you can pick it up so quickly. Very satisfied.
Having just purchased my first cello, I was scheduled to begin lessons when the pandemic hit us and lessons were cancelled. I purchased this book and started trying to learn on the cello myself. It is really helpful and easy to understand. It covers everything from the ground up. I'm grateful to get started with my cello with the guidance of this book.
I actually used this series with a violin teacher when I began to learn violin (also Suzuki and other support material.) When I decided to take a crack at learning cello on my own, it was obvious that I’d get the most mileage out of the Essential Elements series.
