We are pleased to feature this beautiful violin made in 2025 by Andrea Varazzani. A wonderful example of violin making in present day Cremona; the craftsmanship and attention to detail are at the highest level. The wood used is very attractive: a two-piece top made with medium-fine grained spruce, and the one-piece back is made of Balkan maple. The antiqued varnish is oil based; red-brown over a yellow background.

This is a copy of the famous Guarneri 'del Gesù' "Ysaÿe" violin, which was played by many legendary artists such as Eugene Ysaÿe, Isaac Stern, and currently by Benjamin Beilman.

The sound is powerful, clear & direct, resonant, and well-balanced across all strings. It is lightweight, easy to play, and has a varied tonal palette that is a joy for both the player and the listener.

    Violin Maker in Cremona, Italy

    Andrea Varazzani

Born in Naples in 1982, Andrea Varazzani is an Italian violin maker working in Cremona, the historic center of violin making. He graduated from the renowned “Antonio Stradivari” Violin Making School of Cremona in 2000, where he was trained in the classical Cremonese tradition.

In the construction of his instruments, Varazzani works from personal models as well as carefully crafted reproductions of historic instruments. All woods are personally selected with great care, and every instrument is made entirely by hand, without the use of machinery. Following traditional Cremonese methods, he finishes his violins using oil varnishes, resulting in instruments valued for their tonal balance, responsiveness, and refined craftsmanship.
