SAS Chinrest -Original Model Violin - Ebony or Rosewood
* Please note that the rosewood used for this chinrest is of a very light color, as shown in the main picture.
New SAS chin rest is remarkable, allowing for modern playing technique without affecting the individuality of handling the instrument. Its fabrication is compact, yet perfectly elegant design. Available in 4 different heights 24, 28, 32, 35mm to suit almost everyone. The rest can be adjusted to pivot towards the left or right of the violin.
The importance of wood as natural material without varnish is conspicuous, while the precious metal segment is goldplated. It is therefore health-conscious, as the chin piece is in constant touch with the skin. The new chin piece is superb and ideal also because it reaches over the tail piece. This way it offers several manners of holding the instrument. It is fixed above the violin block and it could be tightly screwed in. This model of chin piece is definitely going to become popular very soon, as it is suitable for everybody, from complete beginners to professionals.
Available in two wood materials:
Good idea, but poorly executed. Adjusts in one direction only, Doesn’t help much. If it adjusted in two directions, it would be worth the money. As it is it isn’t much better than a cheap chin rest.
Overall is comfortable, the left clamp is slightly inward, I tried to adjust it to look symmetrical with the right. But after playing it slips and clamps to where it is before, at the violin sound board instead of the edge, doesn’t affect playing and it doesn’t fall off. Not a five star only because of minor aesthetics.
It is just what I needed.
Well made and has good adjustable positions and tilts. However, I find the rather prominent metal post digs into my clavicle. I’m still trying to adjust my shoulder rest to take the pressure off. Stay tuned.
Efficient and pleasant.
