One string will never satisfy every player, individual tastes and requirements are simply too diverse. For this reason we enjoy developing and producing a broad and varied range of strings, inspired by the needs and wishes of individual musicians worldwide.
Thanks to innovative materials and adopting new, carefully matched production methods, the development of Pirastro Perpetual resulted in a string set with a character not yet found in our product family. Within our range of violin strings, Pirastro Perpetual provides the largest sound volume and carrying power combined with a precisely focused sound projection. The clarity of its sound, however, does not diminish the abundance of colors Perpetual offers. Its vibrant tone attack and optimal string response seamlessly complement Perpetual's sound qualities from extreme fortissimo to the most sensitive whisper.
The Perpetual violin strings react in an ideal way to the finest nuances in bow speed and pressure; this enables the musician to play with an extreme range of dynamics and expression. The innovative core material allows a comfortable smoothness during legato, shifting, string crossings, double stops and chords. The extended reverberation of the Perpetual brings forth an exuberant luster.
Although during the first 24 hours Pirastro Perpetual develops towards an even smoother sound, extreme tuning stability is reached immediately after stringing the instrument. Another advancement in the Perpetual set is the platinum-plated E-string which we offer in the gauges 0.26 mm and 0.267 mm. The 0.26 mm E sounds silvery and very brilliant, while the stronger 0.267 mm E provides a slightly darker, more voluminous tone. Both E-strings are equipped with a removable ball end. The standard set will include a synthetic core G-, D-, and A-string with the 0.26 mm E-string.
Like the Perpetual E, the steel A also comes with a removable ball and is compatible with all types of fine tuners.
The Perpetual steel core A-string and the 0.267 mm platinum-plated E-string are available as singles.
This Set Includes:
- E-platinum 26,
- A-aluminum or chrome
- D- and G-silver
- Perpetual A-, D- and G-strings have a ball-end.
- The E-string is available with a removable ball end.
- 4/4 only
I bought these to accentuate the clear and sweet voice of my violin but for the first two weeks, they were clear and projecting but felt uptight and added nothing in the way of sweetness, or any particular color. They reminded me of Mom calling me by my full name from another room in the house, void of warmth. Two days before they officially settled in, I purchased Violinos to swap out hoping to get some soul back in my instrument but by the time they arrived, the Perpetuals had calmed down and I found myself getting easily lost in my practice. The fact they don't color means you hear everything. I feel for professional musicians, these strings are a clean and clear showcasing of their skills. For someone of lower skill, like myself, their just honest and don't hide anything. They project but it's not harsh on the ear and really allows me to hear all the nuances of my sound, for good or bad, allowing me to really hone in on technique and not getting lazy. I put on the G&D of the Violinos and swapped the perpetual E with the Pirastro Gold E which comes with the set (I do prefer the warmer gold label E ). I thought this combination would have a nice haunting sound with the Perpetuals A, which would be piercing compared to the Violinos, but the Perpetual string out sings the Violinos. I generally recommend the set and may stick with them in the future.
