Yellow Sandalwood Bow
This bow is as advertised and more for me. Perfect balance and tone production. It puts my one-star Meinel purnambuco bow to shame. I highly recommend it with no reservations.
I love the bow! I had been looking for an alternative to pernambuco and this bow delivers. It is straight, easy to play with, beautiful to look at, has a silky smooth tightening/loosening screw, weighs in at 60g on my scale and sounds warm and resonant. It is the first quality wooden bow that I have played and, though I like my carbon fiber bows, the wood seems to give just a little more warmth and richness than my carbon bows. The wooden stick seems slightly more flexible than the sticks on my carbon bows but it works very well for the playing that I do (I'm currently stumbling my way through the Bach E major and D minor partitas). I don't play spiccato or sautille so I can't speak to the bow's ability to handle those styles, but it is great for double stops and fast string crossings I'm currently working on.
I really enjoy playing my violins with this Sandalwood bow. First of all it feels so nice and balanced in my hand. The second thing and probably the most important is the sound that combined with my violin sounds lovely. The wood grain is beautiful. I like this bow so much that I bought a second one...just in case they stop making these for some reason. I also have a carbon fiber bow, but prefer the feel on the Sandalwood. This bow feels and plays like a much more expensive bow.
This wood bow is a perfect match with my violin on Obligato strings. The sound is rich and warm, makes you want to keep playing on and on. I had to get used to the weight, since I always used carbon fiber bows, but now the weight of the bow actually makes my playing a bit easier to control. I am beginning to learn staccato, and it feels bouncy and responsive. The Holstein Premium rosin worked really well with this bow's hair. I am very satisfied with my investment.
This bow was exactly what I wanted and ordered
When I first found this bow and decided I wanted it, the 4/4 size was out of stock. I was upset but decided I’d just wait because I wasn’t in a big rush. When I finally got the email that my size was back in stock, I was ecstatic. I ordered it and within 3 business days it was here. I played my violin with it and fell in love with the sound it gave off. Great purchase!
