The Fiddlershop Family
Why is Fiddlershop growing so fast and blowing away its competitors?
Fiddlerman himself tests and curates the violins and works directly with the maker to produce only the best. With over 40 years as a professional violinist of orchestras around the world, he knows what he's doing. We buy our violins directly from the maker - a rare business practice that lowers our cost so we can pass the savings on to you! Each Fiddlerman violin is set up in our workshop.
Made the right choice
My first violin and the entire process was made simple. The website is easy to navigate, but primarily the video on the difference between the Apprentice and OB1 sold me. I was wondering the very question you answered via video. Not to mention the Apprentice arrived ready to play. I'm no judge of different violins, but the Apprentice has been perfect. I prefer the look and feel of a wood bow, but as a beginner the carbon fiber makes sense. I've been playing for just over a month every day and I know I made the right choice of violin. As I improve I will be purchasing future violins and accessories from Fiddlerman hands down. You may find a cheaper violin on craigslist or Ebay but the stress of not knowing what condition or quality it's coming as isn't worth saving an extra $50 or $100, and it probably isn't coming with a quality case. My daughter needs a violin for her music class in school, and I know nothing about violin. After googling and decided to purchase Fiddlerman. We both are very satisfied, the violin is so beautiful, arrived ready to play, complete for a starter pack, so we did not need to buy more accessories. Plus the videos in Fiddlerman website are very helpful too, to compare, to learn simple steps to start, or just simply as a guidance. Very satisfied and definitely purchase again from them, because we wanted to have an instrument with good quality without breaking the bank.
Perfection every way!
I decided to start playing violin again after a 30+ year hiatus. I live in the mountains and do not have any local music stores. I looked on Amazon but the offerings were poor to say the least. Research led me to Fiddlershop. I had some concerns ordering a violin online that I had never tried, but after speaking with Clare I was reassured. My violin arrived in complete order and nearly perfectly in tune. My only complaint is FedEx. The violin sat at their warehouse 3 hours from my home for 3 days. Not sure why as the weather was not inclement and I received other FedEx packages during that time with no issue. But this was not Fiddlershop’s issue at all. Just making a comment regarding FedEx. :-) I will definitely purchase from Fiddlershop in the future. I LOVE my Apprentice violin!
Beyond My Expectations!
I just received my new Apprentice Violin today and could not be happier !! I just ordered it this past Friday and got it today so 5 days total and it's in my hands. I am very impressed by the shipment preparation from every side of the box marked fragile handle with care to the snug packaging inside the box and case wrapped in plastic to protect it as well as contents. When I opened the case I was honestly surprised at how nice it is, plenty of storage, all my extras in the apprentice package we're there. Love the added temperature gauge and outer lock with keys as well as the large outer storage compartment. My Violin is absolutely beautiful and I couldn't be happier. The matte finish gives it an antique feel. The sound is beautiful and it truly was perfectly in tune other than a few minor adjustments. The color and finish, feel, weight and overall complete setup is just wonderful. I did notice a few teeny tiny dimpled imperfections in a small area on the front very close together. I am still unsure if it's not part of the wood naturally ( I would like to know) but overall it's just beyond what I expected. I am a beginner at 55 and have been using an old Ebay violin my father gave to me that he fiddled on and the difference is night and day. I never expected to enjoy another instrument as much as my first love which is my Saxophone. The carbon fiber bow is very very nice although it will take a little time to get used to when compared to the old wooden one I have been learning and practicing with. I may or may not upgrade at some point in the future but a 2nd violin would be wonderful ( Master) and I would not go anywhere but Fiddlerman. I researched, read reviews and browsed local music shops and decided to go with Fiddlerman and very happy with that decision. I just happened upon the Fiddlerman Company by watching learning videos on YouTube by Alison the online Piano and Violin Tutor and saw her video reviews of all 6 Fiddlerman Series Violins. Thanks again Fiddlerman for such a wonderful online shopping experience, I also enjoy your learning tools and videos and appreciate the thorough descriptions of each violin package. I will be shopping for any needed items in the future from your company.
Not QUITE a perfect outfit but a grand slam value
I received my Fiddlerman Apprentice 8 days ago and I LOVE IT. Ease of play: 5/5 it's very light, half the weight of my other violin in similar price range. Sound: 4/5 not the most focused sound but it is a little dark (much less bright) like I wanted. Case: 5/5 what else can I say, it has ample storage room and is gorgeous. Strings: 4/5 I'm not a string expert but I think the G is a little weak on tone and ease of play. I am upgrading my other Fiddlerman set with a Dominant synth core G. Bow: 4.5/5 It's a great bow, very responsive and grippy but at the price point for the quality they cut some corners on it. The hair isn't QUITE perfect. One bow had a knot in a hair and my other bow that came with the outfit had a loose hair. Looks: 5/5 it's breathtaking in person to look at. Accessories: 5/5 great shoulder rest, really stays put on you body. Rosin: N/A it comes with dark rosin but I use D'Addario dark rosin Mute: N/A it comes with a mute but I never use a mute. Furniture: 4.5/5 my only gripe is the non-wood composite tail piece. But I bought the same tailpiece for my other violin so... Chin Rest: 5/5 it's perfect. Fine Tuners: 4/5 the fine tuners are just ok, they work and they are smooth. It stays in tune very well by the way. After two days of playing it I decided the outfit was worth $600 and couldn't understand how they sold it so cheap. After 8 days I see a few very minor issues with it that brings my value down to $500 but it is still a bargain in my opinion. I love it, I absolutely recommend it to any beginner.
