This is an exceptional replica of the original Guarneri Lord Wilton. It was named after Seymour Egerton, 4th Earl of Wilton, a musician, associate of Arthur Sullivan, and 19th century owner of the instrument. The violin was made famous by the celebrated violinist Yehudi Menuhin from 1978 to 1999.

Beyond My Expectations
I wanted to move up to a better violin, after taking a 40+ year absence from playing. My violin was the student violin that I had in high school. I ordered a Holstein Traditional Lord Wilton and when it arrived, it certainly was a huge improvement from my student violin. However, during the first few weeks as my intonation improved, I just felt like I wanted more range and more volume from the instrument, so I contacted the wonderful service department at Holsteins and asked them to let me trade up to the Workshop Lord Wilton. They immediately agreed and we swapped out the instruments. From the first note that I played on the Workshop model, I knew that it was the sound I was seeking. The low register has an almost viola resonance, and the upper register is bright and powerful. The reproduction of the aging, or antiquing, to the finish is fun and doesn't make me feel like I'm playing a new toy when I play with others. I can't say enough about the wonderful service and attitude of all the folks at Fiddlershop for working with me to get just the right instrument. I highly recommend both the organization, and the Workshop Lord Wilton violin!
What an outstanding instrument!
This instrument far exceed expectations both visually and in tone. This violin came recommended by fiddlershop over various other ones I was considering. The staff was helpful in also selecting a bow (Holstein 3 star, also a beautiful piece) and setting the instrument up for me. They made a video for me to hear the violin, which was a wonderful touch and gives a small glimpse into what the violin sounds like. After receiving the violin I was delayed in having the time to practice with it, but finally have been able to do so. WOW, I am so glad this is the violin I ended up with. The luthiers did an outstanding job setting up the instrument and it plays beautifully, more so than the video suggests. The violin arrived quickly and was shipped securely. I do recommend calling and checking stock to double check that what you are interested in purchasing is available. I definitely will purchase from this shop for any needs in the future!
First Violin ... satisfied customer
Buying your first violin as a complete beginner is daunting at best. Should I visit my local violin shop? Pretend the high pitched squeals were part of the plan? No. I wanted to buy Anonymous with confidence... I found fiddler shop and after a few months, decided to buy this "Lord Wilton" violin. As this is my first violin I have nothing to compare it to sound wise, but after a few months of learning, I can tell you with almost complete confidence that I am very happy with this purchase. I upgraded the strings to pirastro evah pirazzi gold and bought a Kun Bravo chin rest. This instrument was not built by a person just trying to get through the day. An obvious amount of love and knowledge went into its construction. I believe fiddler shop is the perfect place for a first time violin buyer. Hands down.
