I was looking for an inexpensive but quality produced and setup instrument. I wanted a good student violin from an experienced luthier for a professional setup. I hit the bullseye with Fiddlershop. Before being a violin shop they are first players and teachers that know what I was looking for. I highly recommend them! They Rock!
It's true, you get what you pay for. This violin was a huge fail. I thought the luthier's at Fiddlerman checked out each violin before it was shipped, but I guess not. The violin pegs wouldn't budge! This violin is not even suitable for a beginner in my opinion. Customer service on the other hand responded quickly and my refund was given no questions asked, thanks to Clare.
Hello Deborah! We're very sorry about your poor experience with the Cecilio violin! We wanted you to know that the Cecilio brand is one of the only brands that we don't work on at our workshop. As stated in the description of every Cecilio page: "Fiddlershop doesn't do any set up work to them." Cecilio products are very cheap, exactly for the reason that we don't spend 2 hours per instrument. They are shipped directly from Cecilio. With this said, we're more than happy to give any advice or directions when it comes to instrument purchases and we also stand behind every order and customer :-) We're always here to help if we can! Best Regards, Michael Holstein
Easy to tune. Wonderful color and shape. The bows are in great condition. The sound is rich and creamy. The sound is loud but clear. Love it. The Rosin is very easy to use and convenient. Overall great packaging and beautiful artistry of violin creation. Would recommend 10/10.
I'm very happy with this violin overall. It's my first one, so I have no point of reference, but it sounds and feels great to me. Two bows + case + rosin + chin rest make this a great starter kit. That said, it's not perfect and it's pretty clear that the manufacturer cut a few corners on the finish. The body is not finished underneath the fingerboard, and you can see where the fingerboard blocked the finish as it was sprayed on. Worse than that, the black finish used on the fake?) ebony fingerboard is rubbing off and staining my hands and fingertips as well as the neck of the violin. There are some spots where the finish is a little crusty and flaked off under my fingertips. Some easily fixed issues were that the One of the fine tuners was not well attached to the tailpiece, and the strings were not wound very carefully around the tuning pegs. Despite these little annoyances, I don't think that you can get much better for 200$, though if one of the major selling points is the "ebony" fingerboard, it should at least be made of ebony.
