An excellent choice for beginners with some beautiful upgrades from the standard Brazilwood Bow. Wood bows generally produce a warmer tone than carbon fiber bows in the same price range.

These bows give violinists a comfortable playing experience, with the beautiful features of a more expensive bow.

Since the cost of re-hairing a bow is more than the price of this bow, you could get a brand new bow every few months and still be saving money.

Specifications:
  • Octagonal Brazilwood bow

This bow is amazing

Note: This first part is Not a review. I previously sent Roger Umana two docs of information I wrote on this bow that were intended as my notes (Dec 6, 22 and prior). They are far too long to serve as a review. Roger. I also discuss problems on some "Beginner" violins sold by your competitors. Since I am very concerned about students having decent equipment to work with, as they have enough difficulties with good gear, I was pleased to hear good feedback on your Tower line of violins *I've had no personal experience with them yet). But having a decent bow is critical for a new student and often a good one is well beyond a family's budget. I found your Brazilwood bow to be ideal in almost every respect that matters for a beginner, say through the first two years of serious study. If they get that far without quitting, and with poor equipment they are less likely to, then they can consider upgrading for more advanced bowings at a higher cost. Now the following may serve as a suitable review. This Brazilwood bow is idea for beginners, through about the first two years, of serious violin study, at a very affordable cost. While a low cost carbon fiber bow will be almost indestructible, it won't produce the beautiful singing voice from a violin that this bow naturally does. This is especially obvious on the E-string where the grating, scratchy and irritating noises are not missed at all. It also produces a full, round tone from the G-string on up, and helps to get an evenly matched tone quality across all four strings. The bow itself "feels" more natural than most others. It seems to almost stay perpendicular to the strings by itself unlike most other bows used. The octagon shape gives the perfect stiffness and one will rapidly get a feel for adjusting the hair tension correctly. It will take some time and patience to get the beautiful horse hair adequately rosined, otherwise it won't play a note. Every early student should first of all have a well adjusted violin that does play properly. Then a good bow is needed to bring out the sounds in that violin. I highly recommend this bow as an ideal choice and by far the most economical one as well.

Great

I'm a beginner so can't comment on bow quality but it looks good, shipped quickly, and sounds good to me.
