Willian De Marchi Bow Review
Hand-crafted by one of Brazil's best bowmakers, Willian De Marchi, award winning bow maker at the Violin Society of America (VSA).
This bow is made from the highest quality Brazilian Pernambuco wood, and is handmade by Willian De Marchi. The gorgeous Silver Sartory violin bow is a step up from the De Marchi Silver Bow and is crafted from a more refined selection of wood, which produces more response, vibration and clarity. Its sound is on par with the finest and most expensive wooden bows on the market.

The Willian De Marchi Violin Bow Family:
Initially wanted to get something during the Black Friday sale but this bow was not included. Am very happy I was steered to this bow regardless (thanks Clare!). I had requested a lighter bow with a balance towards the frog to make it easier for a novice like me. Initially Fiddlershop only had two in stock, neither of which was particularly light. So glad that Michael managed to place an order and made a specific request with the maker. Even more impressive was the speed with which the bow arrived (an email was sent a week prior to shipping to give me the heads up that they were expecting a shipment; talk about customer service!) - I was expecting to get it some time in the new year but it arrived shortly after Christmas. The bow outperforms my hitherto favourite bow which costs 1/3 more; the response is great due to the balance and the sound it draws is sweet and yet can be strong when it needs to be. Thank you Michael and Clare for the wonderful service and great shopping experience!
This is a lovely bow. It's well made and plays easily and beautifully. I have both the Silver and Sartory bows and this is a step up.
I bought this bow in Dec 2020. I upgraded from an inexpensive bow. It is a lot easier to handle and makes a much greater sound. I have a Ming Jing Zhu 925 and I think it is the first time for this violin to make a real sound as it was a hugh improvement in everything. My violin teacher was surprised at how different the sound became. So I am 100 % satisfied with this product and I have learnt that violin and bow are both important.
I did an in home trial with this bow and the Helisson Cyrillo 3-Star bow. What I can say. The craftsmanship is superb. Attention to detail doesn't begin to describe the craftsmanship. Just beautiful. Very easy to play and draws a lovely tone from my violin. The only thing is that the Helisson Cyrillo 3-star is amazing too. So that presented a problem, because I enjoy them both so much, I don't want to let either of them go. I called the shop and they gave me a 10% discount for purchasing both bows. Problem solved! LOL. Now the new problem: Which bow to practice with today?... P.S. I got to talk to Michael OG on the phone and it made my day! :)
I think this bow is a great value and recommend it. I am an amateur violinist and, to give you an understanding of my skill level, I have played Bach's 2nd Partita Chaconne though I'm not as good now as I was at my best almost 50 years ago. I purchased the Willian De Marchi Silver Sartory Violin Bow and a Holstein bench Maggini together and have been using them for about 3 weeks. I have been comparing the De Marchi bow to a K Penzel bow that was made around 1950 which would today cost about twice as much as the De Marchi. I am very happy with the De Marchi. It is not quite as light and responsive as the K Penzel and it took me a little time to get the bounce in jumping arpeggios that I could get from the K Penzel. The De Marchi's balance point is in a slightly different spot. I've been playing this Penzel bow for a long time and that may explain why it took some time to get used to the De Marchi. It's also nice looking and matches the color of the Maggini perfectly. Thanks to Fiddler Shop for recommending this bow for me.
