Green sandalwood bow

These sandalwood bows are frankly amazing for the price. I have both a Holstein yellow sandalwood bow and the open-box green. The Yellow is a little stiffer than the Green, the Green a little more flexible, but both are very well balanced and very well made, and both produce a wonderful wooden-bow tone. I have a 30 year old Meinel one-star pernambuco bow, and both these Holstein sandalwood bows are equal to the Meinel in nuanced tone production, in my experience. I am more a violin maker than accomplished violinist, so these bow reviews are from my experience in trying them with different violins. I couldn't be more pleased with the price range and quality and performance.

Holstein Sandalwood Violin Bow

I watched the videos then found the bow on the website. Later when I went to order it I couldn’t find it on my phone. I called and the young man who answered knew exactly what I was talking about and took my order over the phone along with Holstein Rosin. He told me “open box” meant it had been open and may have slight fading. When I got the bow there was absolutely no fading. It was packed extremely well. I even saved the box in case I ever needed to ship it for re-stringing. The bow was in excellent condition and improved my sound immediately.

Nice now -- nice sound

I have the Fiddlerman carbon fiber bow, and saw this deal I couldn't pass up. I weighed them for total weight and also weighed them at their ends to compare balance. As identical as you could imagine! The carbon fiber bow has been terrific and is ready for it's 2nd rehair. This new Sandalwood bow gives a noticeable and pleasant change to the sound of the strings. I've used it on multiple violins with strings ranging from Thomastic Alphyue to Pirastro Tonica and even Helicore strings. The Helicores require a bit more attention to bow pressure. Overall and excellent bow. I can't imagine you would achieve much by spending more. The hair on it is absolutely too notch. Using Fiddlerman's awesome rosin and will never change. Love these guys, and I know they will always steer their customers in the right direction. Buy the dang bow!

Excellent service and prompt shipment. Bow is a backup but would not hesitate to unveil Becker bow were damaged. A few good rosin sessions and it's playing nicely. Thanks. JLC
