I’ve only had it for a day, got as an early Christmas present. For me it’s an upgrade from my fiddlerman concert violin (which I still love). I was honestly surprised how good it sounded right out of the box. I would put it up against any violin I’ve heard or played in my local music shop. On top of that it looks fantastic, I can’t stop looking at it, the back has the most beautiful maple striping I’ve seen! Thank you!
I received my Panette a little more than two weeks ago and could not be more pleased. The tone is dark and powerful, with a very fine setup. Even after this short time, things have settled and the sound becomes more complex and beautiful each day. This instrument is capable of the sweetest pianissimos, but can thunder if called upon. I asked to have Pierre select an instrument which has an essentially dark character, which this one does, but this is balanced by a very focused higher register. The string selection seems optimal to my ear. Now a little about the services, which rivals the instrument. I first spoke with Clare, who is the archetype of customer service. She listened carefully to my ideas, spoke with Pierre that day and was able to send video recordings to me THE NEXT DAY to preview the instruments! The third violin was the charm and it arrived one day early. The Fed Ex Tracking was a really nice feature of their shipment process. The instrument was flawlessly packed and required only a minor tweak of the fine tuner on the E string. I was one of the few lucky clients to get my hands on this one before they all sold out. This kind of customer service is a rarity today. Thanks to Clare, Pierre and Michael for a flawless customer experience and advice. 5 stars...
Man this violin is so good!!! The quality and the Precision of this instrument is top notch... the action of the strings is just perfect!!! I recommend this to anyone who is in a Jouior Orchestra!
I now own two violins from Fiddlershop and love them both. The Panette is a Guarneri model with a darker tone but still produces complexity, richness and power throughout the spectrum from its full rich G through its well pronounced E that is clear and clean with full upper harmonics without shrillness. The instrument feels lighter to hold and somehow feels slightly smaller than my other instrument which is a Stradivarius model Artist although measurements are the same on both models. The Panette is a pleasure, well rounded, articulate and expressive. As Pierre says "Get yours today at Fiddlershop.com".
I have had the instrument for about three weeks now and becoming more impressed. At the beginning the violin sounded quite dead which was expected, however I had higher expectations. But now the violin is opening more and more up and I am now very satisfied. I was asking for a dark sounding instrument and Michael directed me towards the traditional Panette, a Guarneri pattern. And the violin is indeed dark sounding. The tones it produces are very very nice, it is a great step up from my student level violin. The violin vibrates a lot when playing, you can feel the vibration through your neck and out in the body. The tone is quite powerful, especially the a string which I love, unlike my old fiddle which sounded awful on the a. The resonans is great and there is a very even balance frem the g string to the e. It sings when playing the right notes. A note on the strings. The violin was arrived with Daddario kaplan amo strings and some days ago I shifted to Pirastro's Evah Pirazzi Gold they sounded great on my old fiddle). I wasn't very pleased with them and changed back to the kaplan amo strings. I think I will stick to them in the future, they produce a very pleasant sound on this violin. So far I have become very pleased with my new instrument and I believe it should serve me for the years to come. In the future I will strongly consider doing business with Fiddlershop again. The service was probably the best I have ever encountered on the internet. Mike was very friendly and answered my emails almost instantly. I felt very safe doing business with this retailer, and am, as I said, very pleased with my new violin.
