I had no idea how much of a difference the bow actually makes on the tone that an instrument puts out. I really enjoy the sound my cello makes with the carbon fiber bow that came with it but with this bow it sounds like a different instrument. they told me "it will give a warmer/deeper tone than the Carbon Fiber you have." that is exactly right! It's a great product.
We purchased this bow for our daughter who plays at an intermediate level. She immediately noted how much more comfortable the bow felt in her hand and a few wrist/tension issues that had been plaguing her seemed to vanish. She had been using a (non-Fiddlerman) carbon fiber bow before. Aside from the balance this bow affords at such an accessible price, the volume in helps create was shocking. She is projecting through the room with this bow and sounding so warm and dynamic. I would definitely recommend this as a means to upgrade a playing situation, ESPECIALLY as a bridge before crossing into the realm of purchasing an instrument that will see a young performer through college/conservatory.

Cons: the bow arrived with a small piece of the ebony frog chipped out. The nickel wrapping is extremely loose. Pitting in the metal of the slide. Finishing sanding marks all over the tip. I contacted customer service and they were so helpful in issuing a partial refund. Highly recommend shopping with Fiddlershop based off the customer service experience alone.
