The Amber string set has been developed with the aim of achieving the sound quality of the best gut strings without any tuning instabilities. The set features W-Core®, a completely new core material developed by Warchal's research & development team.
The sound is rich and warm, powerful and clean but with a pleasing texture. The strings also feature a distinctive high quality silking design.
The Amber E string is based on Warchal's newest unique invention (Patent Pending PP 50023-2013). This solution increases the longitudinal elasticity of the string, which results in a significant sound improvement and no whistling. When completely loose, the string is wound like a spring, but straightens out when it is tightened.
Available in Two Tensions:
- Regular - Pure and Sweet
- Forte - Powerful and Bright
Available in Loop or Ball End
I’m curious and love trying different strings but, as far as E strings go, my quest is over. Well behaved (no whistling), long lasting and comfortable. Under tension, the squiggle is hardly perceptible… It’s actually pretty pleasant to the touch.
For years I've been having unpredictable squeaks and whistles on my violin E string. I was recommended this Warchal Amber Violin E string. As soon as I fitted the string and played it for the first time the tone was unbelievably brilliant. So pure and precise. My playing improved with confidence and hitting the high notes was s shear pleasure. I cannot speak highly enough of this string.
The Warchal E deserves a special mention: it seems to have it all.If your violin is prone to whistling it addresses it instantly and this is not all.Its other features are even more remarkable from a general point of view.Beauty of sound and ease in playing is where it is unsurpassed, although Pirastro No 1 can also hold its own. In terms of projection it's as good as any top ranked E string I have tried and because the E is the least expensive,I have tried quite a few.Importantly Warchal Amber Set is a newcomer and that is where it has gained. The smooth feel under the fingers and clean articulation with a minimum effort are probably due to recent advances in string design techniques. Finally do n't be alarmed by the spring it in co-operates- as you tighten the string it goes away and the playing is silky smooth. The Warchal E combines very interestingly with other string sets so try it for yourself.
This string, to me, has a wonderful tone and playability, not loud, but seems to project well. I prefer the tone of the Amber E to wound E's I have tried, including my favorite, the Helicore wound E, which can be very bright and piercing, but that will depend on one's preference, and the violin. The Amber E blends well with the Ascente set, btw.
Does what it’s marketed as—non-whistles :)
