About the maker
The maker, Ming Jiang Zhu, is a "VSA" (Violin Society of America) gold medal winner! He has won the greatest number and highest level of awards in that highly prestigious international competition. He has become one of the most frequently awarded violinmakers in the world. Fiddlershop is proud to sell these fine instruments which would surely cost many times more if they came from any European country. This instrument is as beautiful to look at, as it is easy to play. It has all the wonderful qualities of a fine professional instrument and reminds me of the sound from fine Italian old violins.
At Fiddlershop we will personally go through these violins thoroughly and test/tune/adjust them before shipping out. The violin will arrive ready to play out of the box.
I have now owned my MJZ 907 for about a month and I am ever more impressed with the sound, playability, and beauty of this instrument. I originally purchased a 905, but after a couple of weeks found a couple of issues that I decided I didn't want to "live with". So, I decided to upgrade to the 907. Now, the 905 was a nice instrument, but was a little to unrefined sounding for my taste. Michael H. was extremely gracious in helping me return the 905 and choosing (along with help from his dad, Pierre) a perfect 907. This violin is gorgeous to look at and the sound is so balanced, rich sounding, and refined. All four strings sound clear and pure. All the notes and harmonics are in the right places. It plays like silk and sounds incredible. It makes me a better violinist! I have it paired with a Holstein 2-star bow and together they make beautiful music - no whistling, no wolf tones, just a pure, rich sound. I am very grateful for all of the input and help that Michael H. gave. He responded quickly to all of my email questions and could not have been more pleasant to deal with. I will only deal with Fiddlershop in the future and have recommended them to many other violinists. You simply can't go wrong dealing with these guys!
I have been a professional musician for decades, this is my fifth purchase from Fiddlershop and I couldn't be more pleased. A beautiful instrument with wonderful tone, clarity and response. Truly a pearl. Every instrument I have purchased from Fiddlershop, from my Artist on up, have been wonderful and the staff go above and beyond to insure your satisfaction. I have returned as a customer repeatedly because of the ethics and integrity of Pierre, Michael and their staff. It is always a pleasure.
