It may seem a bit absurd to order a violin from the USA if you live in Switzerland, but I haven’t regretted it for a second. Since good violins in 7/8 size are not quite easy to find here, I set my eyes on the Fiddlerman Soloist, seduced, I readily admit it, also by the handsome look of the instrument. Asking for a comparison video proved worthwhile, since the tone of the violin I chose really suits my taste (Thank you, Michael – also for your telling facial expression which confirmed my decision.) The Fiddlerman Master set is more than worth every cent it costs. The grain and flame of the wood as well as the tint of the red-brown varnish are gorgeous, the bow is surprisingly good for its price class, the case not only beautiful, but offering a special luxury – the bottom has a bit of upholstery on the outside, extremely comfortable for carrying it on the back if you’re on the skinny side. Being accustomed to gut strings, I put Pirastro Passione on which gave the violin a more rounded and mellow sound. It felt like an affordable luxury, since a 7/8 Scott Cao I tried here would have cost me – the violin alone – around 4000 dollars without offering better tone; other 7/8s, still at twice the price of the entire Soloist set, tended to be squealy or uneven, or to get asthmatic in higher positions. Thanks to Michael, Mike and Clare for their kind help!
It's a great Violin I love the varnish on it and the sound it makes is really great. The case and accesories that it comes with is pretty cool too. I highly recommend this Violin!
Purchased this violin outfit. Let me tell you its great. I got the Medium Brown and Dark Grey case. What a beautiful violin. I’m a beginner, but very glad to spend extra. It came so well packaged, protected and ready to play. The people at Fiddlerman are first class, the real deal. Helpful and professional. My thanks. I will not hesitate to purchase more items from this great company.
I ordered the Soloist violin outfit several weeks ago. I had them set it up for bluegrass and it took a few days to get it set up . but it arrived in perfect condition. I have several fiddles and was not too sure of buying one before playing it. but was assured that I could return it , if I was not complete satisfied. I took it to the jam session with the guys I play with the next week, and they like myself were really impressed with the sound. So far I am loving this fiddle. The only thing I have found , is while my other fiddles have fine tuners , this only came with a fine tuner on the E string. It is taking me a little to get used to tuning with the pegs. I may end up sending it back to get a tailpiece with fine tuners on it. but I want to give myself time to get use to the tuning pegs first. I would recommend this instrument to anyone looking for a great sounding fiddle! Plus the customer service, cannot be beat!
Fabulous service, as usual. This 7/8 violin will serve me well as I age and the red/ brown color is truly beautiful. I had fine tuning pegs installed and they work so well, I'm thinking about having them installed on all my instruments!
