What a difference!!

After a couple years of playing an inexpensive violin from Amazon, I finally came to the conclusion that no amount of practice was going to make that fiddle sound any better! I received my left-handed master violin four days ago and when I played it for the first time, my son noticed the difference in the quality of the sound even from the other side of the house and through a closed door! What a difference! The tone is clear, sweet and louder than my old violin. The instrument itself is beautiful with a nice color and defined wood grain. It comes in a sturdy plush case with plenty of room for music and accessories and straps which can be carried/worn in a variety of ways. I upgraded to a fiddlerman hybrid bow and am amazed at the ease of play as it effortlessly glides across the strings. I love the warm sound it produces. Now, having said all this, I am going to offer a contradictory opinion on left handed violins. I respectfully disagree with the statement that this left handed violin is only for those who are overcoming injuries or have lack of mobility and dexterity and “is not intended for violinists who are left hand dominant” In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with BEING left handed and there is nothing wrong with PLAYING left handed. Saying otherwise hearkens back to the days when elementary school teachers tried to force their left hand dominant students to write with the right hand, with dismal and frustrating results. I tried playing my daughter’s right handed violin and it felt awkward. It almost hurt my brain to do it! (Kind of like Mike trying to play the left handed violin in the review video.) when I tried playing a left handed violin I immediately relaxed and it just felt “right”. Sure, I could probably learn to play the violin right handed, but it would be difficult, frustrating and much less enjoyable, possibly leading to less practice time and diminished progress, so why do it? It might look less “uniform” in an orchestra, but it HAS been done before. In my case, I am playing fiddle music for my own enjoyment, with no aspirations of ever being a concert violinist in a professional orchestra. So my recommendation to other left hand dominant musicians out there: buy this amazing left handed violin and play on!

GO LEFTIES!

I’m so happy with my violin, so happy to finally have the chance to play the violin thats designed exactly for me, it’s astounding, I’m already improving so much faster than when I was when I was attempting to play right handed! I appreciate Fiddlershop for their hard work creating this violin to help the lefty community out! If anybody is left-handed and they’re trying to learn the violin, check this violin out. Staff was really helpful answering my questions, thanks Fiddlershop!

Awesome experience

My daughter practices 7 days per week for about an hour. Her last left-handed violin was a gift so we have never purchased a violin for her. The packaging, the case, string quality, are awesome. It sounds great and has rich tones. She loves it!
