Pure Acoustic Built-in Chinrest Pickup S1
The Skyinbow Pure Acoustic Violin / Viola active transducer system has been developed by Kenny Johnson to offer string players a new option for the amplification of their instruments. This unique system cleverly combines the noise free active electronics of the Skyinbow S1 with the latest in battery free technology whilst retaining the looks, functionality and, most importantly, the tone of your natural acoustic violin.
Charging time: 60 seconds from a 9v battery
Working time: Up to 16 hours
Frequency response: 20 Hz - 20 KHz
Output impedance: 1KOhm
Maximum output voltage: 4v peak to peak
THD: Less than 0.05%
No external pre-amplifiers required. The specially designes chinrest houses the impedance buffing pre-amplifier, 1/4" jack socket and re-chargeable power supply. The pre-amplifier is simply recharged by plugging a PP3 battery into the jack socket using the lead provided.
1. Charge system by plugging the PP3 battery supply in to the 1/4" (6mm) output jack for 60 seconds. This will provide 16 hours of playing time. The system is switched on and off when a mono jack lead is inserted and removed. Carefully check that the system is working. Is the important to handle the transducer carefully.
2. Remove bridge.
3. Drill a 1/8" (3.2mm) FLAT ENDED hole at the point marked in the pictures. It is not necessary or advantageous to drill the hole all the way through the bridge. It may be more aesthetically appealing to only drill partially (in which case the FLAT ENDED hole should not exceed 1/8" (3.2mm) in depth). The pickup will work in either case.
4. Insert the transducer in the hole you have drilled.
It is important to make sure that the line on the transducer tip is horizontal when fitted. It is also important to ensure that the transducer tip is in contact with the flat end of the hole and that the transducer is a snug fit.
5. When you are satisfied that the transducer is fitted correctly, secure it with a small amount of super glue.
6. Set up bridge.
7. Fit chinrest.
*We recommend that fitting is carried out by a professional Luthier*
