I gasped when I unwrapped it..it is a Beautiful Bow! And it fit in my hand as if it was made for me. It pulls a wonderful sound..and compared to the Carbon Fiber bows I had been using...has a noticeable 'wood' sound. So its the Best of Both worlds... Highly recommend it.
I love this bow, it has great balance and playability. The tone is very good, about as warm as my best wood bow (which is much expensive). Very well balanced and well made also. Great value and great customer service from Fiddlershop!
I bought this as a second bow and at first I could not tell much difference between it and my pernambuco bow. After doing side by side comparisons over the past few weeks, I do notice that it responds better on short bowing. I also was worried because when it arrived the box had obviously been crushed in shipment. After I examined the bow, I could only find one small indentation on the side of the bow about in the middle. It does not seem to effect the performance of the bow.
Sadly this bow was underwhelming. It draws a nice warm tone, but not clear. It's also slow to respond, and you really have to apply pressure to get it to attack. I know this is carbon and wood wrapped but the wood wrapping looks terribly fake. I purchased this to replace my $40 Chinese Ipe bow, but after many hours of comparing, I prefer my Chinese cheap bow. Terribly dissapointing as I've heard good things about the Avanti bow.
Even as a beginner, I noticed that I could produce a more plesant sound with the JonPaul Fusion than with my pernambuco bow of a similar price. But what do I know? However, my Russian and Canadian conservatory trained teacher couldn't believe how much bang for my buck I had acquired. She's even seriously considering getting one for herself!
