It spoiled me!

I originally purchased this skeptically. I wanted just a little more lift from my chin rest, without changing it out, so I took a chance. This is a great product! It not only increased my overall comfort and stability while playing, it truly spoiled me. As a result when I went to pick up another of my "comfortable" violins, it was not. Long story short, I ordered two more...

Form fitting discomfort

Even though it molds to the contour of my jaw, it doesn’t feel any more comfortable. It’s a hard *** of plastic on top of a hard chin rest. Contour fitting doesn’t make a difference in my experience. I much prefer the gel comforters.

Good to try

Finding the right chinrest/shoulder rest is a trial and error process. If you are looking at the impressionist, it probably means you have been struggling for just the right fit. This solution allows you to find a chinrest close to what you want then overlay on top of it a moldable surface that gives you a better fit. It's a bit hard when it cools, so I used the gel rest on top of this. You heat up the impressionist in hot water, place it on your existing chinrest, and the gel rest on top of that. Then you press your chin into the surface to get it to shape to your jaw. The result seems to work pretty well.

Great Product

This product helps make holding my violin in place so much easier and more comfortable. I had trouble finding a good chin rest/shoulder rest combo to fit my long neck, and this product has solved my problem.

United States
Soooo much better.

This really is such a vast improvement over the chinrest that just digs right into my jawbone in the worst way. I can play much, much longer now, and my placement of the instrument is much more consistent (I'm new). I'm not 100% this is the ultimate solution, because once molded, the rubber is pretty hard, with very little give; but it's molded to your face, and you can re-mold it. So I may try a gel pad at some point, but this is truly a great solution.
