I love my apprentice violin. It sounds like a stratuvarius and plays like one too
I'm in the process of learning how to play the violin and Apprentice has been phenomenal first violin! It sounds beautiful and works great!
I received my Fiddlerman Apprentice 8 days ago and I LOVE IT. Ease of play: 5/5 it's very light, half the weight of my other violin in similar price range. Sound: 4/5 not the most focused sound but it is a little dark (much less bright) like I wanted. Case: 5/5 what else can I say, it has ample storage room and is gorgeous. Strings: 4/5 I'm not a string expert but I think the G is a little weak on tone and ease of play. I am upgrading my other Fiddlerman set with a Dominant synth core G. Bow: 4.5/5 It's a great bow, very responsive and grippy but at the price point for the quality they cut some corners on it. The hair isn't QUITE perfect. One bow had a knot in a hair and my other bow that came with the outfit had a loose hair. Looks: 5/5 it's breathtaking in person to look at. Accessories: 5/5 great shoulder rest, really stays put on you body. Rosin: N/A it comes with dark rosin but I use D'Addario dark rosin Mute: N/A it comes with a mute but I never use a mute. Furniture: 4.5/5 my only gripe is the non-wood composite tail piece. But I bought the same tailpiece for my other violin so... Chin Rest: 5/5 it's perfect. Fine Tuners: 4/5 the fine tuners are just ok, they work and they are smooth. It stays in tune very well by the way. After two days of playing it I decided the outfit was worth $600 and couldn't understand how they sold it so cheap. After 8 days I see a few very minor issues with it that brings my value down to $500 but it is still a bargain in my opinion. I love it, I absolutely recommend it to any beginner.
I purchased this violin to replace my Cecilio because I was tired of the scratching I kept hearing and moving up in skills I just wanted a better sounding violin. Well, I got it. Shipping was fast, I got it within a week of ordering and it was everything I expected plus some. The case is amazing and has plenty of storage. The violin itself just needed a little tuning out of the case but it was already set up and ready to play. The bow is of nice quality. I would recommend this company to anyone wanting a quality violin at a decent price. I've been playing for about 4 years and this is my 3rd violin. I am thoroughly impressed by the craftsmanship and quality. You can't beat the sound for a beginner violin.
The Fiddlershop was a great online shopping experience for us. The Apprentice Bundle included everything my daughter needed to play the violin. The bow was missing upon arrival, but after an email was sent letting them know about it, they promptly corrected that and we received the missing bow a few days later.
