Review of the Fiddlerman OB1 Violin
What does B-stock mean?
Every now and then we receive an instrument from our workshop with a visual imperfection. The instrument might have a small nick, scratch or a miss-coloration in the varnish. These visual issues do not affect the performance or playability of the instrument. However, we would never put these instruments into our regular inventory.
Just like every other Fiddlerman instrument we sell, this instrument is set up to perfection by our talented luthiers and is covered by our lifetime structural warranty.
We have a limited stock of these instruments. Every instrument has a different imperfection. Please find attached pictures for examples of these visual flaws.

The violin is wonderful with great sound sound and great price!
There are a few varnish imperfections on my violin, but I am still enamored by the beauty of the violin. The imperfections make it more beautiful, as crazy as that sounds. My favorite thing about it is the sound of the D String—unlike my old violin the D string is rich sounding and without a mute the violin projects sound well. The bow is really easy to play with, perfect for myself who is a beginner. The pegs and fine tuners are easy to use. Overall the quality of the violin for the price is unbeatable.
While I haven't played it yet, the 4/4 is beautiful. It arrived in perfect condition, and I cannot detect the varnish problem anywhere on the violin. I had the luthiers install geared pegs, which brought the total higher but is ultimately worth it, as I cannot tune with regular pegs on a violin to save my life. It arrived close to in-tune, included a luggage tag, which I was not expecting, and keys for the lock on the case. This is a fantastic outfit for anyone who hasn't played in a long time or felt discouraged trying to play on a poorly made student violin.
I purchased this outfit after buying a Cecilio CVN 300 and I can't even believe the difference! Everything was packed very carefully and ready to play right out of the box. The setup was perfect and the small imperfections in the varnish that put this in b-stock actually made the violin look really cool! The sound of this violin vs the Cecilio are night and day! The resonance and tone are wonderful and Fiddlershop customer service were fantastic when I called and asked for a string upgrade at low cost. The included extras were super high quality and I was lucky enough to get an upgrade to a Holstein rosin which works beautifully with the carbon fiber bow. The mute works much better than I expected and they even included a dope Fiddlerman case tag to put my info on. Overall I couldn't be happier with this outfit and when I need to upgrade I will be coming straight back to Fiddlershop! These guys rock!
I've had this violin for over 2 years now and I absolutely love it. The sound is beautiful and great for beginners. It also comes with everything you need to start out. Also the customer service was excellent, and made sure I received my violin. My violin arrived on time and was just as I expected. I hope to buy from them again soon.
