Review of the Fiddlerman Apprentice Violin
What does B-stock mean?
Every now and then we receive an instrument from our workshop with a visual imperfection. The instrument might have a small nick, scratch or a miss-coloration in the varnish. These visual issues do not affect the performance or playability of the instrument. However, we would never put these instruments into our regular inventory.
Just like every other Fiddlerman instrument we sell, this instrument is set up to perfection by our talented luthiers and is covered by our lifetime structural warranty.
We have a limited stock of these instruments. Every instrument has a different imperfection. Please find attached pictures for examples of these visual flaws.

Never played the violin/fiddle in my life and gave up trying to learn the guitar years ago. I went to a violin shop in my town and said that I wanted to learn to play. First thing owner said to me, "Its a very hard instrument to learn." Downer. I already knew that and had thankfully been stalking the fiddlershop website. So, I returned home and continued stalking and mulling over whether I had the time to try this. I went back and forth on which instrument and even emailed the company two times about them. On the last time I was surprisingly told that their Christmas Black Friday sales was coming up. Now here's a company that told me to wait and was not worried about an immediate sale for money or numbers. I waited for the sale and jumped on the B Stock Apprentice violin. It came in and I was so excited. I did not find anything wrong, cracked or marred on the violin. I thought it was perfect and in fact kept thinking they may have grabbed the wrong violin. So now I am slowly and I stress slowly learning on my own with aid of the internet and feel no pressure when I can't practice every day. Thank you fiddlershop! I had such a great time with y'all I have recommended you to others and even brought in my fiddle to show a friend at work.
I purchased this violin outfit to review it so I could, hopefully, recommend it to students. As I unboxed the violin outfit, I could see it was very carefully packed. The bridge had a cardboard jig to keep it in place during shipment. Very good! The instrument has a good tone. You would have to look far and spend a lot more money to get a better one. I can wholeheartedly recommend this to my students.
First, let me preface this by saying I am a raw beginner with no real experience. So, there will not be any musically insightful information. I have always wanted to learn the violin but always figured it was out of my reach. When I hit my 64th birthday, I figured it was no or, quite literally, never. So, not knowing any better I bought an UVSO (unidentified violin-shaped object) off Amazon for quite a low price and proceeded to try to teach myself. When it seemed all I could coax out of the ****** thing was a sound akin to a catfight, I gave up and put it in the closet. Then I discovered the Fiddlerman website, which, naturally, let me to the Fiddlerman store. After a year of hemming and hawing, I finally decided to give it another try and ordered the B-stock Apprentice outfit, which just fit my budget. First of all, if this is B stock, I can't find the flaw. It looks perfect to me. Now, here I am a week later working with it. I am making sounds that resemble musical notes and actually making progress. The violin arrived ready to play out of the box. It was actually so close to being tuned, all it took was a couple of tweaks on the fine tuners and I was ready to go. I am so please and excited with this outfit. I can't wait to see where I am another year from now. If you are considering this, go for it. It will be money well spent. Pierre, thank you for providing this service to those of us on tight budgets. Quality at affordable prices is a rarity these days. You can rest assured you will get that here.

Please continue the same.. Great Product and Excellent Customer service.. I will be the returning customer for my future Violins to fiddlerman.. surely will recommend to my friends.. Thanks!!
My experience working with Fiddlerman was very positive; consumer service was responsive and helpful, my package shipped quickly and arrived undamaged. I ordered the B-Stock version of the Apprentice outfit to save some money, and overall have been happy with the purchase. Most of the flaws are cosmetic (a small crack near the neck, some inconsistencies in the varnish), but there are a few functional issues, as well. The pegbox was not fit very well, so the A peg slips unless pushed in extra firmly, and there is cracking near the D peg. The string grooves in the nut are evenly spaced, but the E string touches the side of the pegbox, which is wearing a groove into the wood and risks fraying the string. Despite these issues, which are relatively small and pretty easy to fix, the violin sounds great and the outfit comes with everything you need to get started.
