Violin Sound Post Inserter

This is great. I bought for my husband for Christmas. He did not think that this would work. It took him a few seconds to get a sound post in a fiddle. He was amazed how well it worked. He has worked for hours trying to get a sound post in a fiddle and this took a few seconds. I would highly recommend.

Violin Sound Post Inserter / Remover

A better mousetrap. After countless hours of frustration with the classic tool and retrieving sound posts rattling around inside, someone finally came up with something better. Used in conjunction with the classic tool it allows fine adjustment with a firm hold. Worth every penny.

The tool you need for a quick recovery.

Every serious player should and can learn to use this. It doesn’t replace the luthier’s skilled placement but it will get your instrument up and working until you can get that expert help.

Fiddlerman Sound Post Tool

This tool for installing and removing sound posts from violins and violas is a simple and clever design, especially in its use of the materials it is made from (speaking as a materials engineer). Because of its simplicity, it works well for the simple, but frequently frustrating, operation of inserting a post. Some f-holes are tight, especially if a 1/4-inch, rather than a 6 mm diameter post (in a 4/4 violin, is used. This could prevent the tool with the post inserted from fitting through the f-hole. But Fiddlerman foresaw this problem and gives the solution in the clear instructions. The beauty of this tool, especially for amateurs, is that it will avoid causing the damaged f-hole edge too often seen from improper use of the "standard" tool while inserting the post. But the standard tool must still be used to move the post to its final position, and the outer f-hole edges must be protected during this phase. I recommend this tool for general uses as it inserts the post easily and cleanly. Time wasted retrieving an internally fallen post is eliminated. This reduces the post problem to one of selecting the right piece of spruce, of the right diameter, cutting it to the right length, and shaping the ends to match the curvature of the top and back in proper relationship to the grain of the post. But if you have a good instrument bring it to a qualified luthier rather than practice repairs that may damage it.

Cool tool!

This thing ingenious. I put up a sound post for the first time and it only took a minute!
