One of our favorite books for getting started with the cello. Essential Elements for Strings offers beginning students sound pedagogy and engaging music, all carefully paced to successfully start young players on their musical journey. EE features both familiar songs and specially designed exercises, created and arranged for the classroom in a unison-learning environment, as well as instrument-specific exercises to focus each student on the unique characteristics of their own instrument. EE provides both teachers and students with a wealth of materials to develop total musicianship, even at the beginning stages

I actually used this series with a violin teacher when I began to learn violin (also Suzuki and other support material.) When I decided to take a crack at learning cello on my own, it was obvious that I’d get the most mileage out of the Essential Elements series.
As someone that has never touched a cello before and is teaching themselves(can’t afford a proper teacher) this made it very easy. It’s starts you out from a very easy place and within two weeks I jamming out to twinkle twinkle little star. Ready soon to order the next three books just because you can pick it up so quickly. Very satisfied.
Having just purchased my first cello, I was scheduled to begin lessons when the pandemic hit us and lessons were cancelled. I purchased this book and started trying to learn on the cello myself. It is really helpful and easy to understand. It covers everything from the ground up. I'm grateful to get started with my cello with the guidance of this book.
The book is great, really helps me a lot in understanding how to play Cello starting from scratch. Delivery was fast and the item was well packed. Really appreciate the small stickers thanking me for supporting the business.
This book is awesome I have bought 5 different stage 1 books and this is by far the best it has pictures, tips , and techniques. My others are basically sheet music so you have to have some background in music reeding but this book starts off with the note name in the symbol so it helps you learn to read music while teaching you your instrument. I left a review earlier and only gave it four stars because I am still early in the book and mentioned it should have added some bowing technique in earlier on in the book 2 pages later low and behold there was exactly what I said I wished they had put in there. So I’m changing my review to 5 stars and saying it’s perfect for beginners especially for ones learning at home outside of a classroom. And the app is nice too.
